This is the driver I have and it's worse than when I first got this stupid machine:

since they can say "oh just don't update the drivers".Another update, another several weeks I'm sure of fing about with this stupid laptop and it's garbage drivers!Ĭan anyone suggest a solution for the touchpad jumping about on this machine since the Windows 10 Creators Update. I wonder if at this point it would be possible to get a refund from MS store but I somehow doubt it, esp. So yeah, I'm actually starting to consider getting a Macbook, if the XPS is the best Windows has to offer. But I'm at a point in my life where I don't have time for that shit and just need stuff to work.

And I was fine spending hours fiddling with drivers or registries or scouring forums for solutions when I was a teenager. To be honest, I've used Windows all my life and was always kind of anti-Apple. Haven't even tried the Serial IO driver.Īnd this supposedly the "best Windows laptop on the market".

but after installing the Graphics driver, again it won't boot anymore.

Suddenly, Thermal Framework driver worked fine, 100 Series worked fine. I've updated the BIOS (to 1.2.3), then tried installing the drivers. If these drivers are being pushed by Win update, shouldn't thousands of XPSes be going out of order right now? The drivers that cause the problem are all Intel, so my guess would be it's their fault. And it must be the same set of drivers being pushed by Dell and MS. So maybe it's not only a specific hardware configuration that gets this. I'm looking for one too! Otherwise I'll be returning the unit and maybe even going back to Apple Windows did a "restore" automatically, but now my wireless is no longer working in Windows, so it's even worse than my first unit.Ĭoming from the Apple ecosystem, this is absolutely outrageous - whether the problem is Dell or Mircosoft, this is a unit that is currently sold through the retail store, not something out of date, so this stuff really should be tested thoroughly.īut to answer your question, no, I don't have a solution. So I did the update again, and had the same problem. I told the Microsoft store about the problem and they replaced the unit. Windows did a "restore" automatically which fixed the issues, but then Windows update will just re-apply updates and cause the problem again. Running updates causes it to get stuck on the Dell logo.

I just got the XPS 9350 QHD, and have a similar problem, although my driver and software updates are coming through Microsoft. I bought it as a Signature Edition (FHD version) from MS store, Win10 64 home.

I was wondering if updating the BIOS might help, although Dell's website says install drivers first, then update BIOS. But the only way to fix it is to reinstall windows from a USB stick.ĭoes anyone have advice? I want those drivers because of the issues that the laptop has otherwise. I can get into BIOS and sometimes can boot into safe mode. After trying to install some of them, for example the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (which I believe should fix the sleep crashes) or the IO driver (which I'm not sure what it does), the laptop does not boot into windows anymore after restart. I got the appropriate drivers from dell's website using my service tag. I couldn't connect a second monitor thru the Thunderbolt and it would also crash during sleep, so I figured new drivers should fix that. I have a 9350 that used to mostly work fine for a couple months until I tried to update some drivers. Maybe someone has experienced this problem and can help me out.
